College Point - Home Design
What once stood as a small 2 bedroom bungalow in the heart of College Point, NY now stands as a majestic 2 family micro-mansion with warm luxury finishes throughout and a rooftop with prime views across the East River. The clients wanted a classic traditional aesthetic with a clean contemporary twist perfect for entertaining and providing full functionality for their family. Outfitting the home with all of these things and more, for this project, we did not disappoint.
Designing both interior and exterior, we placed the most emphasis on the 1st floor home owner’s unit. Upon entry, warm hickory wood stretches the entire span of the home and as an accent, is clad on the Television and Fireplace Feature wall. With an open concept floor plan, it was important to unify all finishes and furnishings throughout. We used woods and neutrals with occasional pops of blue and brass as the solution.
The kitchen is designed with a classic aesthetic showcasing ivory cabinetry with chocolate detail, an Athens Grey Marble backsplash, an oversized farmhouse sink and luxury brass plumbing fixtures and pendant lighting. To add the contemporary twist, we introduce trendy black stainless steel appliances.
The bathrooms also take on a dark and light, contemporary and classic identity. Both main and master bathrooms are clad with clean and fresh white oversized subway tile stacked horizontally from floor to ceiling. The black luxury porcelain floors, matte black plumbing fixtures and grey farmhouse vanities show-out against the white backdrop. Saving the best for last, the shower feature walls in both bathrooms are true show stoppers having bold patterns and textures that excite the eye.
