DOUGLASTON,NY HOME DESIGN
We had the pleasure of completely overhauling our clients’ first-floor great room, transforming a once-cluttered open-concept living and dining space into a beautifully balanced interior with clear spatial hierarchy, curated storage, and moments of color and character.
A new picture-frame molding treatment, painted blue, pays homage to our client’s love of prewar apartment living, bringing classic character and charm to a space that was formerly plain and dated. Contemporary elements throughout ensure the design feels timeless and grows with our clients for years to come.
With a love for cooking and entertaining, the home was designed to encourage connection. A new glass divider provides visual access between the kitchen and living areas, while the highly functional kitchen features high-end quartz countertops that mimic the look of real marble, a generous island, optimized storage, and a chef’s range. Additional spillover seating at the island creates the perfect place to enjoy a coffee while admiring the cook.
One of the highlights is the coral-colored banquette in the new eat-in kitchen, adding a playful pop of color against the blue walls, green swivel chairs, and sophisticated two-tone cabinetry.
Overall, this project is filled with fun, unexpected moments that speak directly to our clients’ quirky personalities—a home that feels classic, contemporary, and unmistakably theirs.
