What began as a seasonal retreat became the place our clients wanted to call their own after spending time here during the pandemic. Drawn to the home's architectural character and peaceful setting, they envisioned a residence that reflected the comfort, balance, and joy it had already brought their family. Our role was to transform an outdated interior into a sophisticated coastal escape that felt both effortless and deeply personal.
The original home lacked continuity, with disconnected spaces and finishes that no longer supported modern living. Guided by our clients' desire for light-filled interiors and relaxed elegance, we embraced a restrained design approach that allows every room to feel calm, welcoming, and beautifully connected. Soft textures, natural materials, and thoughtfully selected furnishings establish an atmosphere that encourages both relaxation and gathering.
The residence includes two inviting living spaces, a formal dining room, guest loft, private lounge, wine display, four bedrooms, and a newly finished basement designed as a custom playroom and casual family retreat. Neutral upholstery serves as the foundation for sculptural statement furnishings, including a petrified wood coffee table overlooking the Saugatuck River and an organic geometric dining table that anchors the entertaining space. Expansive windows remain largely uncovered, inviting sunlight to shape the interior throughout the day. Every design decision honors the home's natural surroundings while creating a refined vacation residence where lasting family memories continue to unfold with comfort, warmth, and quiet luxury.
